You don’t have to be a political junkie (but it helps) to love wandering around this Federation era building, checking out the clubby party rooms, marvelling at the smallness of the Prime Minister’s office and the CWA-like chintziness of the hastily constructed room for the Queen’s visit in an era way before women trod the corridors of power.
The museum costs a paltry $2 and usually holds exhibitions. At the moment they are holding a display of the best political cartoons of 2013. There was plenty of material last year on the Oz political scene, but even so, these “best-of” cartoons are belly-laugh funny.
Hot tip: I have heard the Map Exhibition at the National Library is really fab too
