Cabramatta – Sydney’s Little Vietnam

It takes me an hour to get to Cabramatta. But it’s still the next best thing to going to Vietnam. Located in Sydney’s south-west, Cabramatta has long been Sydney’s Vietnamese hub and it is an invigorating mix of Vietnamese style eateries and food outlets, traffic chaos and the occasional zen moment.

Food? Sorted. There are classic Vietnamese restaurants and some great Chinese/Vietnamese yum cha on offer and none of it is expensive.

I always go to Bau Truong www.bautruong.com.au , a Cabramatta stalwart, which has spawned two other outlets in Sydney, including in trendy Marrickville. But there’s nothing trendy about the food – fresh, fragrant, flavoursome, textured and delicate all at once. That’s Vietnam! Take a look:
