Di Lusso Winery in Mudgee is the go-to spot for a slice of the good life. Sure, there’s wine tastings, olive tastings, weddings, plus a large semi-outdoor restaurant.
We wiled away a couple of hours in the restaurant last weekend with friends in one of life’s great pleasures – the long lunch.
The owners of Di Lusso’s are Italy-philes and lunch Di Lusso was a little like Italy: lots of noise, good pizzas made outdoors, a labrador dog with big chocolatey eyes, noise, bocce and a toilet door lock that didn’t work.
If you are watching the wallet, pizza and salad is economical and delicious. Or if you want to make more of a special occasion out of it, there’s a good range of mains in the $25 mark, I had pork tenderloin – wrapped with prosciutto, stuffed with sundried tomatoes and Reggiano, served with baked polenta and a house made beetroot relish. Delicioso! http://www.dilusso.com.au
