Korean food fad puts Gangnam style in the shade

Korean food, so long the poor cousin of Japanese, has finally stepped onto the foodie stage and taken a bow. Sydney is now full of fresh, fiery, authentic Korean eateries and a strong Korean culture.

The SMH recently ran a feature on the explosion of Korean food in Sydney and some of the hot new Korean restaurants. But what is Korean food like in the suburbs?

Last weekend I went to a new Korean buffet at Epping in the north of Sydney, called what else but Gangnam Buffet, on the weekend, and it was full of young and old Koreans enjoying a reasonably priced sample of everything.

We knocked back spicy chicken and pork, leek pancakes, potato pancakes, kim chi, noodles, soup, salad and a great ginger flavoured soft drink. Tea and coffee were thrown in too – Korean style of course.

And if you want to continue the Korean theme, check out some kids from Epping Boys High doing their take on Gangnam Style at Epping Train Station. Hilarious!
